Answer: the footed Champion Clay Furnace could easily be moved from room to room. Hot coals were in the bottom of the pot and heat was naturally vented into the room or immediate area through the large holes. The furnace was made at R. L. Williams' McDade Pottery. Williams patented this furnace in 1911, and in 1935 he shipped approximately 20,000 furnaces. The McDade Pottery closed in 1942.
